It's no surprise around New Year's that Orangetheory, among other exercise providers, attracts new members. Here are some common questions on Orangetheory membership cost that new, existing, and potential members might ask.

Reminder on Orangetheory

Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) is an instructor-led group fitness class based on heart rate-based interval training.  The class consists of treadmills, water rowing machines, and a variety of other strength- and core-training equipment.

1) How much does Orangetheory cost per month?

Ultimately, the cost of Orangetheory each month depends on how often a member wishes to take a class. To accommodate different preferences, Orangetheory offers three monthly membership levels:

  1. Premier
  2. Elite
  3. Basic

Here is an overview of each.

Orangetheory Premier

Members get an unlimited number of classes per month. While it's not recommended for various reasons, you could book up to two classes a day.

Depending on your specific area or market,

Premier classes generally start at $159 to $189 a month but could be higher.

Again, this varies by your studio's location.

Orangetheory Elite

Members can attend 8 classes per month. This equates to about 2 classes per week, but you could utilize them whenever in that month.

Similar to the other membership options, costs vary depending on your location.

Elite classes generally start at $99 to $119 a month but could be higher.

Note – unused classes do not roll-over from month-to-month. If you don't use them, you lose them.

Orangetheory Basic

Members get 4 classes per month, or roughly 1 class a week.

Again, depending on your specific area or market,

Basic membership generally starts at $59 to $79 a month.

Similar to the Elite Membership, you can use them at any time; but if you don't use them, you also lose them.

Orangetheory Class Packages – an alternative option to a fixed monthly membership

If you're unable or unwilling to commit to a monthly membership, Orangetheory also offers class packages in increments of 10, 20, and 30 for purchase.

You can also purchase individual classes or basically pay-as-you-go, but this is by far the most expensive option on a per-class cost basis.

Overall, the greater number of classes your purchase, the lower the average cost per class.

Fees and rates will be more expensive in a large city like New York or Los Angeles, but prices could also vary between a local city and the surrounding suburbs.

2) How much does it cost to initially join Orangetheory?

While your first class at Orangetheory is free, you'll need to pay for any future classes that you'd like to take via one of the options listed above.

If you intend to see your stats during and after class, you'll also need to purchase a separate Orangetheory heart rate monitor.

Further details are below.

3) How much does it cost to cancel my Orangetheory membership?

If you need to cancel your Orangetheory membership, there should be no additional cost incurred as long as you follow the Orangetheory cancellation policy.

More to come on that soon.

4) Are there other Orangetheory membership costs or related fees?

If you fail to remove yourself from a class less than 8 hours before class time or don't show up for a class, you'll be charged a late cancellation/no-show fee.

This fee can generally range from $10 to $14 depending on your studio's policy.

5) Besides the cost of membership, what other Orangetheory costs exist?

In addition to the monthly membership,

you'll need to purchase an Orangetheory heart rate monitor in order to track your stats in classes on the Orangetheory systems and screens.

Here are your options.

OTbeat Link

Orangetheory recently launched the OTbeat Link that lets you use your Apple Watch instead of Orangetheory's own heart rate monitor.

While this is perhaps a good option for Apple Watch users,

you'll still need to pay $129 for the OTbeat Link in order for the integration with your Apple Watch to work.
